Salah set to snub Saudi: Liverpool optimism grows despite Trent exit
Liverpool are growing increasingly optimistic that Mohamed Salah will extend his contract, according to a report.
The Reds are set for a tumultuous end to the season. On the pitch, the pressure will be on Arne Slot’s men to bounce back from their Champions League exit and Carabao Cup final defeat and to not let a 12-point lead over Arsenal slip.

Off the pitch, too, things are heating up. Liverpool have failed to convince vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold to extend his contract and he is now set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer.
Captain Virgil van Dijk is also out of contract in the coming months. He recently stated that anyone claiming to know what his final decision will be is ‘lying to your face’ and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Dutchman has yet to choose whether to leave or stay.
Then, there is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is enjoying one of the best individual seasons in Premier League history, but he, too, could leave the Reds on a Bosman in the next window.

However, according to Ben Jacobs, Salah is increasingly expected to sign a new contract with the Reds. His main suitors, Al-Hilal, have yet to engage in any kind of contract talks with the 32-year-old as they have, to date, not received any encouragement from the player that he would be willing to make the move.
Jacobs states that Al-Hilal negotiating a deal has always hinged on Salah indicating an interest in heading to the Saudi Pro League and this has simply not materialised so far.

Liverpool, for their part, are confident that Salah will remain with the club and they fully expected that talks with the player would drag on for quite a while. Given his age, the Reds are wary of offering a financially ‘reckless’ deal to their Egyptian King.
Jacobs reveals that Liverpool have ‘no fears’ that Salah could be tempted by Saudi Arabia despite the eye-watering finances on offer. Pro League clubs are planning to shift their attention to other top targets for the summer.
Saudi dealmakers are planning to make another splash in the market and are targeting the likes of Vinicius Jr, Darwin Nunez, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mohammed Kudus, Jacobs reports.
