Man Utd sent Garnacho message as Napoli agree terms with Kvaratskhelia heir

Manchester United may not lose Alejandro Garnacho to Napoli after all, with the Italian side having now agreed terms with Lille winger Edon Zhegrova, according to French media.

The Serie A giants are in the market for a winger due to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s impending transfer to PSG for a fee in excess of €70 million. Such a hefty sum will allow Napoli to make a splash in the market and they have certainly identified some ambitious targets.

In recent days, links with Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho have proliferated following reports that the young Argentine is no longer considered untouchable by the Old Trafford hierarchy due to the club’s financial situation.

With Man Utd in need of ‘pure profit,’ the likes of Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have been made available, although the Red Devils are not actively pushing these two fan favourites out of the club.

Garnacho has been described as being open to the move due to the legacy of late compatriot Diego Maradona at Napoli but also due to his lack of action under new Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim. There is concrete interest from Tottenham as well, as revealed by FootballTransfers earlier on Wednesday.

Man Utd fans will breathe a sigh of relief at the news coming out of France that Napoli have agreed personal terms with a winger who is not Garnacho.

According to Le Parisien, the Serie A side have struck an agreement with Lille star Edon Zhegrova, who was already determined to leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer.

However, Man Utd may not be completely out of the woods yet because Lille are just as reluctant to sell the winger as they were in the summer. The French side are digging their heels in, which is making things difficult for Napoli.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims that the supposed interest from Napoli in Garnacho is ‘agent-driven’ to stir up the market and that Man Utd are under little threat of losing the 20-year-old to the 2023 Scudetto winners.
