Man Utd tipped to complete SURPRISE Deadline Day deal
Manchester United could reportedly dip into the Deadline Day market to sign a new centre-back following a serious injury to Lisandro Martinez.
The Argentine has established himself as one of the Red Devils’ most important players under Ruben Amorim, but he could miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering a knee injury against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Martinez was stretchered off the Old Trafford pitch in tears after colliding with Palace winger Ismaila Sarr in the 82nd minute of Man Utd’s 2-0 loss to Oliver Glasner’s side, and the Manchester Evening News have reported that he is unlikely to feature again until next season.

After the incident, Red Devils boss Amorim told reporters: “Licha is really important for us. Not just as a football player but as a character, especially in this hard moment. Now it’s time to help Licha like he’s doing for so long.
“I think it’s a bad situation. Let’s wait to assess things with the doctor but I think it’s a serious situation.”

Man Utd to sign a new centre-back?
Despite the recent addition of Arsenal wonderkid Ayden Heaven and the summer arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, Man Utd could sign another new centre-back on Deadline Day, as per MEN.
It’s unclear whether the Red Devils will push to bring a defender to the club before the winter window slams shut, but they are reportedly assessing their options following Martinez’s injury.
Marc Guehi and Jarrad Branthwaite have both been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford, although Tottenham Hotspur have seen a late bid for the former rejected, while Everton are unlikely to allow the latter to depart mid-season.
Man Utd currently have seven centre-backs in their senior squad, including Martinez, while Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw both have experience of playing in a back three.
