20-year-old Maximilian Beier could be handed a surprising Germany debut by new coach Julian Nagelsmann, according to BILD.
Though unlikely to fill his country’s number nine void at such a young age, it is not hard to see why the former Bayern boss would look to Beier as a potential option up top. The youngster is versatile, clinical in front of goal and he is currently taking the Bundesliga by storm.

How good is Beier?
Highly rated since being a teenager, this season is Beier’s first in which he is receiving regular Bundesliga minutes at Hoffenheim. He made his Bundesliga debut at age 17 and became his club’s youngest-ever debutant in 2020.
However, his last two campaigns were actually spent out on loan in the second division in order to get playing time under his belt. At Hannover, Beier made 68 appearances and scored 15 goals, also recording seven assists. While those numbers are not necessarily spectacular, the youngster impressed at the former Bundesliga club with his overall play and earned plenty of plaudits.
Indeed, it is no surprise that Hoffenheim, prior to this season, felt that he was now ready to make the step up. Beier plays with a youthful exuberance, but when he gets near the goal, he is reliable beyond his years. Quick and clinical, the 20-year-old has racked up four goals and an assist in just five Bundesliga games this term.
Hoffenheim have enjoyed their best-ever start to a top-flight campaign and Beier has been a big part of that. “Above all, it is important for him to even get into positions from which he can shoot,” said head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo recently. “He can manage that thanks to his dynamism and technique.”
“You either have those genes or you don’t, and Maxi has those genes to score goals.”

What clubs are interested in Beier?
Since this is Beier’s first season of regular top-flight football, no clubs have, as far as we can tell, officially registered any serious interest in the 20-year-old. If he keeps up his current form, however, it is only a matter of time before big clubs come calling.
