What did Romano say?

“There are some player exits to clarify at Arsenal this summer, with the goalkeeper situation one to watch as they want to find a solution for Aaron Ramsdale,” Romano said.

“Although there have been replacements like Justin Bijlow linked with the Gunners by some sources, my understanding is that no decision has been made on this yet.

“Ramsdale is expected to leave for sure, but there’s nothing advanced with any club yet, so it’s not clear yet how much Arsenal will get for him. Before having a replacement lined up to serve as the backup to David Raya, they want to make sure that they find the best solution possible for Ramsdale.”

Ramsdale had performed admirably as Arsenal number one as they went close to winning the Premier League title in the 2023-24 season.

However, he lost his place in the first team last season when Mikel Arteta decided to sign David Raya from Brentford on loan last summer with an obligation to buy.

Arteta believed that Raya would be an improvement on Ramsdale, especially in his distribution and construction from the back.

Raya was largely a disappointment in the first half of the season, making a string of errors and largely looking nervy, but he improved in the months of the season.

Arsenal will sanction a sale of Ramsdale, with Raya’s loan move from Brentford to be made permanent for a fee of around €31 million.

The Gunners will then sign a new backup and are interested in Biljow, who impressed under new Liverpool coach Arne Slot at Feyenoord.
