Troy Deeney’s TikTok video ranking Premier League strikers sparks controversy as he snubs popular Liverpool star

Troy Deeney, the former Watford player, recently stirred the pot by ranking top-flight strikers.

Taking to TikTok, Deeney jumped on the Premier League ‘blind ranking’ trend, where users assign rankings without knowing which player is coming next.

Despite the unpredictability of blind rankings, Deeney dove in headfirst, immediately sparking controversy by placing Andy Cole, the prolific former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers forward, at the top of his list.

Deeney lauded Cole as a ‘legend’, instantly placing him in first position, a designation which raised eyebrows among fans who expected other household names to claim the top spot.

Deeney’s list, unveiled in his TikTok video, continued with familiar names like Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, and Robin van Persie.

Dennis Bergkamp was placed in sixth, dubbed as a ‘lovely player’, as well as Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in second.

However, Deeney’s decision to place Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool star, at the bottom of the rankings caused a stir.

The sacked Forest Green Rovers boss justified this choice by citing Suarez’s brief tenure in England’s top flight.

‘He wasn’t around long enough to be a Prem legend’ Deeney added.

His final list placed Andy Cole in first, following by Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright, Nicolas Anelka, Eric Cantona and Luis Suarez in tenth.

Fans took to the comments section to point out Deeney’s questionable logic, with many asking him to ‘explain the Andy Cole please’.
