Uncovered: Tottenham Fans Prefer Defeat to Man City over Arsenal Title Win, Contradicting Ange Postecoglou’s Statement on Supporter Priorities

Tottenham fans would rather see their side lose against Manchester City to stop Arsenal from winning the Premier League title, Mail Sport can reveal.

Mikel Arteta’s men remain in the hunt for their first title in 20 years with the thrilling race set to head into the final day of the season.

However, defending champions Manchester CIty remain the favourites ahead of their clash with Ange Postecoglou’s side on Tuesday.

A result for Tottenham will see Arsenal take control of their own destiny ahead of Sunday’s finale.

It’s a dilemma which has seen some Spurs’ supporters want their own team to lose, even though a victory would see them remain in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

Mail Sport conducted a poll on X to see where Spurs fans stand in this awkward scenario.

The results were closer than expected with 52% of 531 voters favouring a home loss against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Those fans could discouraged by the fact that their side has won their last four league matches at home against City.

The defending champions have one just once at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having claimed a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup earlier this year.

The two teams could not be separated in December when they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Etihad.

On Monday, Postecoglou insisted ‘100 per cent’ of Tottenham fans want their team to win even if it hands Arsenal the title, and wanting to lose in any circumstances is ‘not what sport is about’.

‘I understand rivalry, I was part of one of the biggest ones in the world in the last couple of years with Celtic and Rangers ,’ said Postecoglou. ‘But I will never understand if someone wants their own team to lose.

‘That’s not what sport is about. It’s not what I love about the game. What I love more than anything is the competitiveness, challenging yourself to beat someone and coming out successful. Anything outside of that, it’s got nothing to do with sport.

‘If other people want to treat it that way, that they get pleasure from other people’s misery, that’s not how I’ve lived my life and how I perceive my role. My role is to bring success to this football club and I know 100 per cent of Spurs supporters want us to win, to be successful and win trophies.

‘Winning tomorrow night will help us bring joy to 100 per cent of Spurs supporters.’
