The year is 2027 and Tiger Woods is teeing off at Oak Tree National, eyeing another major golf title.
Far-fetched? Not at all.
The United States Golf Association is set to announce Tuesday future sites for the U.S. Senior Open with Oak Tree hosting in 2027, the second year Woods will be eligible for the event.
Woods, whose 15 major championships only trail Jack Nicklaus’ 18 titles, turns 50 years old on Dec. 30, 2025. He will be eligible to compete on the PGA Tour Champions circuit in 2026.
Oak Tree National, which opened for play in 1976, has hosted two other USGA championship events. In 1984, former Oklahoma State golfer Scott Verplank beat Sam Randolph 4-and-3 to win the U.S. Amateur. In 2014, Colin Montgomerie won the Senior Open by defeating Gene Sauers in a three-hole playoff.
Oak Tree also hosted the 2006 Senior PGA Championship, which Jay Haas won in a three-hole playoff.
The USGA will also award the U.S. Senior Open to Scioto Country Club, in Columbus, Ohio (2026) and Crooked Stick Golf Club, in Carmel. Ind. (2028).
The 2024 U.S. Senior Open will be held June 27-30 at the Newport Country Club in Rhode Island.
