Nico Williams has been regularly linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal – but a new name has been tipped to step up their interest in the Athletic Club star.
For much of the last year, Nico has been linked with a move away from Bilbao and ahead of the summer, the 22-year-old Spaniard is again a prominent figure when it comes to transfer rumours.
While rumours have also been building that Nico Williams might even sign a new deal with Athletic, he has now been tipped to make a move to Liverpool.
“I think Liverpool will sign a striker and let’s see maybe a wide forward too. Keep an eye on Nico Williams,” Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail reported via TikTok.
Nico Williams: The start of Liverpool renovation
Although there have only been limited links between Liverpool and Nico so far ahead of the summer, the Reds have been masters at keeping their transfer business under lock and key for years.
The move they made to sign Cody Gakpo from PSG in January 2023 was an excellent example of the Anfield club landing a player apparently out of nowhere.
The Dutchman or Luis Diaz, who is reportedly in talks over a new contract at Anfield, are two of the players who could be sacrificed to facilitate this blockbuster deal.
Liverpool might have won the Premier League at a canter this season, but there is a sense that they need to renovate their squad before next term.
Nico Williams would be a thrilling addition to complement the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah, who recently committed their long-term futures to the club.
