Manchester United target Rodrigo Mora is expected to sign his new Porto contract this week, according to a report.

The 17-year-old has emerged as one of Portugal’s most exciting talents this season, having burst onto the scene with six goals and three assists in fewer than 1000 minutes of top-flight football.

Mora has made 32 appearances for Porto across all competitions so far this term, and he made headlines with a stunning strike against Casa Pia at the weekend.

His goal, which subsequently went viral on social media, prompted Portuguese media to issue an update on his situation. Naturally, given his obvious talent, Mora has no shortage of admirers.

It was claimed that PSG recruitment chief Luis Campos had made him a top priority for the summer, while Man Utd have also been linked with the teenager, who turns 18 in May and could therefore move to the Premier League this summer.

Mora to sign new deal

Signing Mora is a huge challenge for the cash-strapped Red Devils despite Ruben Amorim’s admiration for the young attacking midfielder. His current Porto contract contains a €65 million release clause.

The situation is only going to become even more difficult later this week when Mora is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal with his boyhood club.

According to Santi Aouna, the terms of his new contract have already been agreed, and Moura will sign his new contract before the week is out. His release clause will be bumped up to an eye-watering €100 million.

His new deal will run until 2030, making it eminently harder for clubs looking to poach him from Porto. The Portuguese giants know that they have a real gem on their hands and they will not let him go on the cheap.
