Bronny James, an 18-year-old freshman at USC, collapsed during Monday’s practice and was taken to the hospital. A family spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday that James was in stable condition and no longer in the intensive care unit.
James’ recovery timetable and the cause of his cardiac arrest are both still unknown.
LeBron tweeted that his family “will have more to say when we’re ready.”
According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, cardiac arrest is when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood. When this occurs, blood doesn’t flow to the brain or other important organs.
