Denver Broncos offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz quickly became a fan favorite when he joined the team in 2021.

Meinerz went viral during the pre-draft process thanks to his unique outdoor workout video. Meinerz then went viral again for letting “The Belly” breathe at rookie minicamp after being picked by Denver in the third round of the draft.

Now entering his third season in the NFL, Meinerz wants to retire “The Belly.”

“Well, this is going on Year 3,” Meinerz said last week when asked about letting ‘The Belly’ breathe at practice. “I wish we would stop talking about ‘The Belly.’ I’m just kind of doing my thing. I appreciate the question, but I’m just trying to play football and get better. I’m sorry.”

NFL staff members and players voted for the best players at each position this offseason and Meinerz was named an honorable mention among the league’s best guards. He was healthy for 13 games last season and allowed 3.5 sacks in those contests.

Meinerz is poised to serve as the team’s right guard this season following the arrival of new left guard Ben Powers. He’d like fans and pundits to focus on his play — opposed to ‘The Belly’ — in 2023.
