JK Dobbins Visits Chiefs in Kansas City as Free Agent, Expected to Find New Team Soon

Free agent running back JK Dobbins is in Kansas City, visiting the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

On Tuesday morning, Adam Schefter reported that the 25-year-old is in Missouri touring with the Red and Gold. Dobbins’ agency, LAA Sports & Entertainment, also told Schefter that the running back is ‘expected to have a home very soon.’

Isaiah Pacheco is the incumbent starter for Kansas City at running back. However, they only have La’Mical Perine, Deneric Prince, and Keontay Ingram behind him on the depth chart.

Aside from the Chiefs, Dobbins reportedly flew west to visit the Los Angeles Chargers. The team recently lost Austin Ekeler to the Washington Commanders in free agency and brought in Gus Edwards from Baltimore.

In addition to his former teammate Edwards, Greg Roman – Dobbins’ offensive coordinator for his first three years in Baltimore – was appointed to run the offense in LA under new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

After a breakthrough rookie season in Baltimore, Dobbins suffered a series of knee injuries

The Ravens drafted Dobbins out of Ohio State with the 55th selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, after a breakthrough rookie season, Dobbins’ time in the NFL has been marred with injuries. After an ACL tear blocked off his sophomore campaign, Dobbins clocked in eight games in 2022 with another knee injury.

This past season, Dobbins made one appearance before suffering a torn Achilles and parting ways with the team.

Dobbins’ surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, wrote a letter to NFL teams, stating how the running back is cleared for football activities and has looked ‘outstanding’ through his recovery ahead of his visits with the Chiefs and Chargers.

So far in his career, Dobbins has played in 24 games and recorded 234 carries for 1,347 yards and 12 touchdowns.
