Tyreek Hill fights driving citations in court

Defiant Tyreek Hill wants his day in court after pleading not guilty to the traffic infractions that sparked his brutal pre-game detention, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

The $20 million per-year Miami Dolphins star has decided against paying the combined $308 fine for allegedly driving carelessly and failing to wear a seatbelt en route to the team’s Hard Rock Stadium.

He’s opted to stand trial instead – and his lawyers are demanding that the traffic cops who bundled him out of his McLaren supercar during Sunday’s clash all show up for it.

Paperwork filed by attorney Adam Goodman confirms the speedy Dolphins receiver ‘enters a plea of not guilty to all charges and demands trial’.

It adds: ‘Defendant hereby demands the State produce at trial, any and all documents regarding the speed measuring device used if any … further the defendant demands that all State witnesses involved in the speed measurement and issuance of citation appear.’

Miami-Dade Police officers gave chase on their bikes after Hill roared past them at 10:39am to link up with his Fins teammates ahead of their season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Video released to the media afterwards reveals an officer tapping on Hill’s window and the eight-time Pro Bowler winding it down and handing over his license.

‘Don’t knock on my window like that,’ Hill says, snarkily. ‘Just give me my ticket, bro, so I can go. I am going to be late. Do what you gotta do.’

The encounter turns ugly when Hill puts his heavily tinted window back up and ignores multiple requests to lower it.

‘I am going to get you out of the car. As a matter of fact, get out of the car,’ the cop warns him.

Officer Danny Torres then comes into shot, the heavy-set lawman growling: ‘Get out of the car or I will break that f*****g window.

’Torres, who has been placed on administrative duty leave pending an internal inquiry, then wrenches open the McLaren 729S’s rotating butterfly door and grabs Hill.

The video shows the 27-year police veteran slamming the athlete face first to the floor and pressing a knee into the middle of his back.

Hill is cuffed and marched towards the sidewalk where Torres, 51, again grabs him from behind and shoves him into a seating position.

When the Super Bowl winner warns the officers that he recently underwent knee surgery and begs them to ‘chill’ they lecture him for ignoring their commands and tell him to ‘stop crying’.

Hill was eventually released and allowed to head to the game after receiving two citations.

Paperwork filled out by officer M. Batista estimates that he was doing 60 in a 40-mph zone.

Hill told the media afterwards that he was ‘shellshocked’ by the incident and feared he could have been shot had he not been a famous NFL star.

Video shows an officer asking Hill for his license and then the situation escalating when Hill rolls up his window and ignores requests to lower it. The officer then removes Hill from his car and arrests him.

He later conceded he could have handled things differently, adding: ‘’I have family members who are cops. We’ve had conversations.

‘Yes, I will say I could have been better. I could have let down my window in that instant.’

The thing about me is I don’t want attention. I don’t want to be cameras out, phones on you in that moment.

‘But at the end of the day I am human, I have got to follow rules and do what everyone else would do.

‘Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not.

‘But at the end of the day I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.’

Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie Daniels released bodycam footage of Sunday’s traffic stop a day later to demonstrate her department’s ‘commitment to transparency’.

The video has divided opinion, with the player’s camp calling for the officers to be fired and his supporters claiming it was sparked by racial prejudice.

Others have criticized Hill for his confrontational attitude, among them DailyMail.com columnist and former US soccer star Tim Howard.

‘Let’s be clear: this whole incident was brought on by Tyreek,’ wrote Howard. ‘If you break the law, if you do something dumb, have a little bit of respect and humility,’ he wrote.

‘If you screw up, if you drive recklessly without your seatbelt on, then – at a bare minimum – approach the officer with courtesy and roll your window down.

‘If you don’t do that? If you resist? Problems happen.

’In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, David Torres, the brother of Danny Torres, said Hill sparked the spat by ‘disrespecting’ officers and ignoring their commands.

‘The tints that he had were illegal tints. For the safety of the officer, he has to be able to see inside the vehicle at all times,’ David said.‘

In South Florida in particular, you never know what’s inside that car or what that person is doing.

‘He’s not only protecting himself, he’s protecting all the rest of the officers around them.’

Hill – nicknamed Cheetah because of his blistering speed – finished the 2023 season with an NFL-leading 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns before Miami lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card Game.

But it was also a turbulent year off the field as he suffered a major house fire, became embroiled in paternity suits with multiple women and filed to divorce wellness influencer Keeta Vaccaro, 28, just months after marrying her.

Hill withdrew the petition within days, claiming it was filed by his lawyers without his knowledge. The couple are expecting their first child.

Hill is also being sued by Sophie Hall, a plus-sized influencer, who says he charged at her and broke her leg during a practice drill at his mansion in Southwest Ranches.

Hill says the OnlyFans model tripped over a dog.
