The Corpus Christi Country Club was one of 29 clubs to be recognized by the United States Tennis Association’s annual Outstanding Facility Awards program, the club announced in a press release Wednesday.
The association is known for recognizing excellence in the construction and renovation of tennis facilities throughout the United States.
“The award recognizes the commitment the club’s membership has made over recent years to renovate the facilities and the tennis staff’s commitment to grow the game at the Club and in the Corpus Christi community,” Country Club tennis head professional Gerry Maingot said in the release. “Our staff is amazing.”
Maingot received the award in New York at the start of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The Club recently completed a significant improvement project including upgrading court lighting to LED, reconstructing courts, upgrading fencing and adding shade structures, water stations and benches to all courts.
Corpus Christi Country Club partners with Community Tennis Associations and other local organizations to host programs and charity events, their favorite being the New Year’s Knockout Junior Tennis Tournament which raised more than $20,000 for pediatric cancer.
