Nov. 2—Conrad Weiser’s Emma Perkins and Berks Catholic’s doubles team of Sarah Schnatz and Isabella Logozzo open play in the PIAA Class 2A girls tennis championships Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

Perkins, a senior and the Berks and District 3 champ, will open against Winchester Thurston’s Cecilia Gurgel, the third-place finisher from District 7, at noon.

Schnatz and Logozzo, both juniors and the District 3 champs, will open against North Catholic’s Katie Hardy and Brea Kelly, the third-place finishers from District 7, at 2 p.m.

The quarterfinals in singles and doubles are Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The semifinals will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with the finals at 3:30 p.m.

Perkins, a four-time BCIAA Flight 1 singles champ, is competing in singles at states for the first time.

She has won three PIAA medals in doubles. She won gold in 2020 with Alex Pancu, and silver medals with Michelle Timothy in 2021 and Victoria Waltz last year.

Defending champ Ilana Rosenthal, a senior from Wyoming Seminary, is in the other half of the 16-player draw from Perkins. Should both players advance, they would not meet until the final.
