NFL QB Speaks Out After Being Benched for Sunday Game

admin

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields has broken his silence on social media after the shocking decision to drop him from the team’s starting role, which he held since Week 1.

Fields appears to have been sent to the sideline for a now-healthy Russell Wilson for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Wilson has not played this season despite entering training camp as Pittsburgh’s presumptive starter due to a calf injury.

Despite starting the fall as QB No 2, Fields has led the Steelers to an impressive start to the season at 4-2 and tied for first place in the AFC North.

Fields’ first public statement of any kind since his apparent benching was not critical of head coach Mike Tomlin or of anyone in the Steelers’ organization.

‘Your “normal” day is someone’s dream, so be thankful everyday,’ a post Fields shared on his Instagram story read.

Fields was traded from the Bears to the Steelers in March for Chicago to make room for No 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.

Many NFL fans saw Chicago give more support to Williams before he arrived with the franchise than Fields received in all three years in the Windy City since being drafted in the first round himself in 2021 by the team.

Wilson, who turns 36 in November, has not shown the form that led him to nine-straight Pro Bowl selections with the Seahawks in a few years.

Wilson’s tenure with the Broncos was marked with bad play, bad coaching, and a complete downturn for his career.

Pittsburgh now benches Fields for Wilson in hopes the former Super Bowl champion can bring the same fortunes back to the Steel City.
