Some of Europe’s top sides are considering an approach for Mason Greenwood this summer but they could all lose out to teams from the Saudi Pro League for the unwanted Manchester United star.

Greenwood has not played for United since his January 2022 arrest, with the Premier League side looking to cash in on the forward this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at Getafe this season where he has grabbed eight goals and six assists in 29 games, leading to interest from fellow La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Barcelona among others.

However, Spanish outlet MARCA state that the La Liga giants are ‘resigned’ to seeing Greenwood move to Saudi Arabia despite the player’s desire to play for a team in the Champions League.

It is claimed that United have put a pricetag of €60 million on Greenwood, which has put off European sides, and there is an acceptance that the English outfit will simply sell to the highest bidder, which is likely to come from Saudi Arabia.

Italian sides also interested in Greenwood

There had been suggestions that Greenwood could still return to United after the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier this year, with the new partial owner admitting that nothing could be ruled out.

However, United are aware of the backlash surrounding the situation, having seen a negative response to similar reports last summer, which led to Greenwood joining Getafe.

Serie A side Juventus are also said to be interested in Greenwood, according to reports in Italy, with teams in Europe seemingly unfazed by the hostility surrounding the forward.

Greenwood’s performances on the right flank for Getafe have attracted interest and the Spanish side are understood to have a clause allowing them to retain a percentage of any sale this summer after their gamble to loan him last summer.
