Murillo is confident of playing a role in Nottingham Forest’s fight for Champions League football despite hobbling off injured after scoring in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.
The Brazilian defender, who has been arguably Forest’s best player this term, was forced off at Selhurst Park late in the second half, limping heavily.
Boss Nuno Espirito Santo said the 22-year-old would need a scan to assess the extent of the damage.
While losing Murillo at such a crucial stage of the campaign would be a huge blow for Forest, Mail Sport understands he is making good progress and has not yet been ruled out of Sunday’s meeting with Leicester at the City Ground.
Murillo’s 236 clearances place him at the top of the defensive charts across Europe’s top five leagues, while his 67 blocks are bettered only by Brentford centre back Nathan Collins, who has made 71.
Murillo is considered one of the best young defenders in Europe and is widely expected to play for one of the world’s elite clubs in the years ahead, though he signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Forest in January.

After spending much of the season in the top three, Forest have slipped out of the Champions League places in recent weeks, though maximum points from their final three matches should secure the top-five finish they need.
Following their meeting with already-relegated Leicester, Forest travel to West Ham on May 18 before taking on Chelsea at the City Ground on the final day of the season. That fixture may decide which of the two clubs qualifies for the Champions League.
