Joe Burrow’s surprising new ‘do has a very simple explanation.

The Bengals quarterback, who stepped out with a bleach blonde buzzcut at training camp in Cincinnati this week, had a straightforward response when asked why he chopped off his iconic long locks.

‘I got bored,’ the 27-year-old told reporters after practice on Wednesday.

Burrow went on to explain that he had a bet with his teammate, BJ Hill.

‘B.J. said that if I buzzed it and bleached it, he would do it too,’ the former LSU superstar said.

‘So now everybody’s got to hold him accountable because he’s got to do it in the next week,’ he went on.

‘We need the fans and the media to hold him accountable if he doesn’t do it. So I’m counting on you guys.’

The Bengals social media team were the first to make references to rapper Eminem’s Slim Shady alter ego when he debuted the new look.

The team posted a photo of Burrow, which was captioned ‘Guess who’s back,’ in reference to the iconic hook from the 2002 hit ‘Without Me’.

The Eminem references kept coming with users repeatedly responding that he looked like ‘Slim Shady.’

Along with the Detroit native, Burrow’s bold look also drew comparisons to WWE superstar Cody Rhodes.

‘Y’all signed Cody Rhodes in the offseason?’ one fan joked in response to the Bengals’ post.

Meanwhile, some fans argued that the new look symbolized breakout season for Burrow as he returns from injury, and even a Super Bowl title for Cincinnati.

‘MVP season incoming,’ one user wrote.

‘Super Bowl me NOWWWWW,’ another added.

After suffering a torn ligament in his right wrist, Burrow missed seven games at the end of last season as the Bengals finished with a 9-8 record.

However, with Burrow healthy and surrounded by new reinforcements, the Heisman Trophy winner believes they will have the upper hand over their rival, and reigning Super Bowl champs, the Chiefs.
