Gareth Southgate’s men will have to overcome the Netherlands if they are to make second concetivinee European Championships final.

Ronald Koeman’s men came from behind to beat Turkey in the quarter-finals and will be a tough hurdle to overcome.

However, England will be favourites to overcome the Dutch and make Sunday’s final in Berlin.

The semi-final showdown on Wednesday night will be shown by ITV and England’s major tournaments record with the broadcaster is poor.

Since 1996 England have played 31 Euros and World Cup matches on ITV, winning just nine, drawing 12 and losing the remaining 10.

ITV were also the broadcaster when the Three Lions were dumped out of the 2022 Qatar World Cup by France in the quarter-finals.

In contrast, the major tournaments record under BBC is superb, with England featuring on the channel 29 times in the same period.

They have won 21 of those, including the victory against Serbia in their first match of Euro 2024 and the latest victory against Switzerland.

There are two draws and six defeats in the remaining eight matches shown on BBC.

England will hope the ITV curse won’t strike again, with Spain or France on the other side of the semi-finals.

If Southgate’s men do make the final, superstitious fans will sigh relief as the showpiece will be shown on both ITV and BBC.
