Paul Pogba has rejected an offer to join a Russian club as he nears a return to playing, according to a report.

The former Manchester United midfielder could return to the field in March after he had his four year drugs ban slashed to just 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Pogba was facing potential retirement from football had CAS upheld his four-year suspension, and he is understood to be cleared to return to training in January.

It is reported, however, that his return to playing won’t be with current club Juventus, leading to numerous links and offers for his services ahead of his highly-anticipated comeback.

According to France Football, Russian club Broke Boys FC approached the World Cup winner in a bid to sign him, but the offer is thought to have been politely rejected by the player.

The club is not affiliated with FIFA, and plays in the Media Football League, which was created in 2022 and is made up of celebrities.

Broke Boys are the current champions of the league, winning 3-0 in the 2024 final with 27,000 fans in attendance.

The team was founded by influencers risenHAHA and Dmitriy Egorov, with other teams featuring YouTube stars, actors and more influencers.

Pogba, meanwhile, has seen his original €5,000 (£4176) fine set aside and later released a statement in which the Frenchman winner celebrated the end of ‘the nightmare’.

‘Finally the nightmare is over,’ he posted. ‘Following the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.

‘I always stated that I never knowingly breached World Anti-Doping Agency regulations when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which does not affect or enhance the performance of male athletes.

‘I play with integrity, and although I must accept that this is a strict liability offence, I want to place on record my thanks to the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s judges who heard my explanation.

‘This has been a hugely distressing period in my life because everything I have worked so hard for has been put on hold. Thank you again for all the love and support.’
