Thomas Tuchel has reportedly agreed to become the next permanent England manager.

The 51-year-old has been heavily linked with the vacant role at Wembley Stadium and he has now reached an agreement with the Football Association, according to The Times.

Tuchel is expected to be unveiled as Gareth Southgate’s successor this week, with interim boss Lee Carsley set to return to England’s U21 side.

The ex-Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season and he had been touted as a possible replacement for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

However, Tuchel has now ended speculation with a move to Old Trafford by agreeing to become the first foreign manager to take charge of England since Fabio Capello departed in 2012.

He will become the first ever German to manage the England senior side, while Tuchel reportedly believes the Three Lions are strong contenders to win the 2026 World Cup.
