Victor Osimhen: “I am worth over €100 million”

Victor Osimhen has boldly declared his own price tag, insisting his transfer value should be in excess of 100million euros.

After joining Napoli from Lille in 2020, the 25-year-old quickly established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in world football at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

In the 2022-23 campaign Osimhen netted 31 goals in all competitions as Luciano Spalletti led the club to their first Scudetto in more than three decades.

However, despite signing a new long-term deal in December of last year, relations between the player and club soured last season leading to him being banished from the dressing room and expected to depart in the summer.

Interest from several Premier League clubs and Saudi Arabia followed, but a permanent transfer away from Serie A ultimately did not come to fruition and he instead joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

Speaking earlier this week the Nigeria international insisted there are few players in world football that can offer what he brings to the table.

‘I am worth over 100 million euros.’ Osimhen told TMW.

‘There are few players in the world like me, who have reached such style and success. It all relates to my characteristics, what I do, and my quality. Therefore, I believe I deserve it.

‘I am aware of my contribution and what I can achieve, even in my private life. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million, others 100-120-150….. Everyone has their own opinion.’

While both Chelsea and Arsenal had been linked with a move for Osimhen, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli had appeared to be his most likely destination in the closing stages of the transfer window.

However, the club were reportedly only interested in signing either him or Ivan Toney, and halted their interest after a deal to sign the England striker from Brentford was completed on deadline day.

Osimhen’s contract at Galatasaray is not said to include an option or obligation for the Turkish Super Lig club to purchase him at the end of the campaign and he still has nearly two years left on his Napoli contract.

According to reports from Italy, a clause in the loan deal would allow Osimhen to cut his loan deal short and complete a permanent transfer in January if a club is willing to pay his £75m release clause.

This clause is reportedly not available to other clubs in the Italian top flight.
