Giants Star Suffers Serious Foot Injury, Season in Chaos

The New York Giants’ superstar left tackle Andrew Thomas is facing season-ending foot surgery in a significant blow to the team.

Thomas, who was selected fourth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, is a huge piece in the Giants’ offense, but it now looks likely that he won’t play again this season.

Thomas, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, is currently in Charlotte meeting with ‘noted foot expert’ Dr Robert Anderson, as he weighs up surgery.

The injury was described by one NFL reporter as ‘the one offensive injury the Giants couldn’t afford to have’, with the team already 2-4 for the season.

Thomas hurt his foot during a 16-play touchdown drive in the third quarter of Sunday night’s 17-7 loss to the Bengals at MetLife.

After the game, he told reporters he was heading for an MRI test, and the fear is that he has suffered a Lisfranc injury.

If that is the case and he requires surgery, Thomas will be in a boot for months and is extremely unlikely to return to the field until next season.

He has played in all six of the Giants’ games so far this season, and has not missed any of the team’s 419 snaps.

Heading into this weekend’s home game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles, it is expected that Josh Ezeudu will move into his spot at left tackle.

Thomas played college football for Georgia, before being drafted behind Joe Burrow, Chase Young and Jeff Okudah to the Giants in 2020.
