Jay Cutler Offered Crash Victim Money Before DUI Arrest

Former Chicago Bears star quarterback Jay Cutler allegedly tried paying off the person he crashed into in order for them to not call the cops prior to his arrest for suspected DUI.

Police in the Nashville suburb of Franklin, Tennessee responded to a call on Thursday afternoon after Cutler rear-ended the driver in front of him.

Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police, according to a police report reviewed by WGN in Chicago.

Police say they noticed a strong odor of alcohol during their conversation with Cutler, who reportedly had blood shot eyes and was slurring his words.

Cutler refused a field sobriety test and was taken to a hospital, where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant, according to authorities.

Cutler initially told police that he hadn’t consumed alcohol before allegedly later admitting to having had ‘a little bit’.

He also has been charged with failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision as well as possession of a handgun-under the influence after a rifle and a loaded glock were found in his vehicle.

Cutler was released from the Williamson County Jail later on Thursday after posting a $5,000 bond.

After playing his college football at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Cutler played 12 seasons in the NFL.

He was drafted eleventh overall to the Denver Broncos and played in the Mile High City for three seasons before being traded to the Chicago Bears.

Cutler was best known for his time in Chicago – guiding them to an NFC Championship game appearance in 2010 and playing there for eight seasons.

He played one season with the Miami Dolphins in 2017 before retiring from the sport.

Outside of the sports world, Cutler is best known for being married to reality television star Kristin Cavallari.

According to a source, Cutler always ‘marches to the beat of his own drum’, adding that ‘Kristin has been on good terms with him but this is just disappointing.’

‘She will talk about it on her podcast, but she sees it as a black eye and hates now that she has to be present for it and answer to it,’ they shared.

The source added that Cutler is always ‘going to do what he wants to do,’ hinting it had a major part in their marriage breaking down.

‘That won’t change which was a main reason for them breaking up in the first place,’ they added.

An insider shared that Cavallari had thought her ex-husband was ‘for the most part okay’, and she didn’t expect this to happen.

‘Now that it has, they are going to have some talks about where his head is at, if he needs help or if this was one unfortunate incident,’ they explained.

‘Sure she is happy nobody is hurt or worse but it is just frustrating that she has to deal with Jay’s trouble,’ they said.

The source continued, ‘There is no world where this should have happened in Kristin’s mind but now that it has, they will deal with it and she only can hope for the best, but it isn’t a good look at all.’
