Jets Fielding Trade Offers for Garrett Wilson

In the aftermath of a huge trade that landed them a bonafide No. 1 wide receiver, the New York Jets have been receiving offers for their other top pass catching talent.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets have been getting offers from a group of unnamed NFL teams who have interest in Jets receiver Garrett Wilson.

This comes in the aftermath of the Jets trading with the Las Vegas Raiders for receiver Davante Adams.

Per Schefter, the Jets have ‘heard from other teams but are not planning to trade Wilson.’

While Wilson is off the table, it’s believed that the Jets are listening to offers for receiver Mike Williams.

Adams will link up with his former quarterback in Green Bay – Aaron Rodgers – who now has another bonafide No. 1 wide receiver in his stable.

That acquisition will see Adams alongside Wilson – seen as a budding star – and Allen Lazard in a potent passing attack.

It could mean that Williams – who spent his first seven seasons in the league with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Jets – may be on his way out.

Williams appeared to make a crucial mistake in the dying seconds of Monday night’s game against the Bills – when he ran the wrong route and slipped, leading to a costly interception that sealed a victory for Buffalo.

On an episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers highlighted Williams’ mistake as one of the reasons why the Jets lost.

‘I think if you watch my press conferences, I start with myself when I make mistakes. “I’ve got to play better. I can’t make that throw. I can’t make that decision.” That’s the standard for everybody,’ the veteran said when asked about the play.

‘There were a lot of mistakes throughout the night but if you’re looking just at that play – and that’s what the question was – well it was two verticals to the right side and Mike needed to get right to the red line, which would have been a big gain.

‘So I wasn’t calling Mike out for anything but his responsibility and details on that play. I have a lot of love and respect for Mike. On that play, he wasn’t in the right spot. We should all be held to a standard.

The Jets are, however, listening to offers for receiver Mike Williams after a mistake vs. Buffalo

‘I hold myself to a standard of greatness and when it hasn’t been there, which it hasn’t at certain times, I’ve stood up there and said I’ve got to play better. Hopefully that’s an example for everyone else.’

The Jets currently sit at 2-4 on the season and have the league’s 16th best passing attack.

They’ll hope to rebound from the defeat and get back in the playoff race on Sunday Night Football when they hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.
