Both of the Kelce brothers showed up to work at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night – with one playing in the game and the other watching on as a commentator.
But despite the need for him to be impartial, Jason Kelce knew that he was a good luck charm for his younger brother Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Reflecting in the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Jason cracked a joke about being at the game while working for ESPN – with the build-up suggesting that he was talking about his younger brother’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Jason referred to himself as ‘Primetime Big Yeti’, adding, ‘As we all know, Travis came up big – because he had someone special in the stadium, someone that means a lot to him, and he really tries to always perform when they’re there. And that is me!’
Travis chuckled and then said, ‘Have I ever had a bad game [when you’re there]? Not in Kansas City!’

Kelce performed well – racking up 70 receiving yards on a season-high nine catches in the 26-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. He finished as the team’s second-best receiver on the night.
Monday marked the first time Jason was on the Monday Night Football panel for a Chiefs game and a contest in which Travis was playing.
Last season, as a Philadelphia Eagle, Jason played on the road against the Chiefs and was victorious in his final on-field clash against his brother.
Speaking about Travis’ form so far this season, which had attracted plenty of criticism before Monday night’s game, Jason said: ‘Now he’s enjoying his life very publicly.
‘Everything he does and everything, really our family does is very much out there and that’s just the nature of the way it is right now.
‘I think that Trav, he’s been very healthy throughout his career. This is a guy who’s always found a way to show up in the peak physical shape.
‘And I know optics are that he is all over the place, and that’s not dishonest of reality, but he still keeps the main thing. Football has always been the most important thing in Trav’s life.
‘He has always lived his life to the fullest. He has enjoyed his offseasons very much, even before Taylor Swift and everything else going on in our lives. And I think that, you know, he is always going to find a way to make football the No 1 priority in terms of being prepared.

‘There’s so many things that rely on this, between his relationship with his teammates, Andy Reed, and his legacy.
‘So I know it’s been a slow start for him. Trav is always gonna find a way to show up and show out. I think it’s only a matter of time before it gets back to the Travis Kelce we’ve seen.’
After the game, photos emerged of Travis and Taylor belatedly celebrating his birthday at a Kansas City bar.
The next day, Travis was seen holding Taylor up as they boarded a Gulfstream jet bound for the East Coast.
Monday Night may be one of the last times in a while that Swift will be able to see Travis playing as she hits the road for the final five stops of her global ‘Eras Tour’.
