Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that his ‘biggest problem’ from Liverpool’s loss to Tottenham is Cody Gakpo’s injury.

The Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Spurs on Saturday in a game filled with VAR controversies, including two red cards for the visitors and a goal being incorrectly ruled out for offside.

Klopp slammed the decision not to allow Luis Diaz’s strike after refereeing body PGMOL apologised to the club, and the German was incredibly displeased with the officials at full time.

But most of his frustrations appeared to be aimed at Gakpo’s injury. The Dutch forward scored Liverpool’s goal in the game, but injured himself in doing so having picked up an issue earlier on in the game, being substituted at half time before leaving the ground in a knee brace.

Klopp confirmed the injury after the game and begrudged that he had lost three players from the game via upcoming suspensions and injury.

‘The biggest problem of the game, to be honest, before Cody Gakpo scored, we got a free-kick and he got injured and he is now with a brace limping down the corridor,’ Klopp told Liverpool’s website.

‘That’s my biggest problem, to be honest, in this moment. We lost two and maybe a third player. Really bad, really bad. So, yes, that’s something we have to deal with obviously.’

When asked if Gakpo’s injury was serious, the German replied: ‘Possibly, I don’t know. He wore a brace. He scored a goal but afterwards, but after that shot he felt it even more. It was from the foul before.’

Diogo Jota will also miss Liverpool’s next domestic game after seeing red, meaning the club lost two forwards in the match, though Darwin Nunez was fit enough for the bench after struggling with injury.
